The Windham Region No Freeze Project currently offers four levels of service to assist people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
No Freeze Shelter
In normal circumstances, this safe and welcoming place offers 28 beds and 10 chairs where people experiencing homelessness can rest and sleep on cold nights from November 1 through April 30, 7:30 pm to 8:00 am. The shelter provides restroom and shower facilities and will also safely store personal belongings and medication as needed.
Walk-in Hospitality Center
During the day throughout the year, part of our space becomes our Walk-in Hospitality Center where guests can access personal health and hygiene supplies, showers and restrooms, and meet with trained personnel who can connect them to services.
Navigation
Our Community Navigator coordinates entry into the shelter and housing resource system; connects guests to health, recovery, education, employment, and transportation services; and helps guests obtain vital documentation.
Diversion
When a person enters shelter, their risk of returning to shelter increases. Those who are diverted have lower risk of ever entering shelter in their lifetime. Diversion money may pay to kennel a pet, provide a security deposit, fund meals at a relative’s home, pay transportation costs to get someone home, and other expenses.
