Our Mission
Project HOPE, formerly the Windham Region No Freeze Project, offers emergency shelter and housing-focused services to adults experiencing homelessness and unstable housing in eastern Connecticut. With compassion, we empower individuals to achieve their housing goals.

Our Organization Provides
- Intakes and assessments that link people to housing.
- Safe, temporary emergency shelter.
- Connections to area human services and the community.
- Access to clean water, hygiene services, information, and hope.
- Positive, helpful, caring and knowledgeable people.
Last Year
Emergency Shelter
We provided year-round
emergency shelter
for men and women.
Diversion
Our diversion funds
supported 96 people
on their path to housing.
Housing
Agency collaboration located
available residential units and
developed creative housing solutions.
Connections
We completed intakes
and assessments for 300+ people,
linking them to critical services.
Employment
We provided job experience for
20 difficult-to-hire people
(some formerly homeless).
Hospitality
Visits to our
healthy living program
exceeded 200 per month.
The Faces of Homelessness
Hundreds of people in our region face the prospect of homelessness every day. Every homeless person has a unique story. Many lose housing due to a financial crisis caused by a job loss, health emergency, or the end of a relationship. Some struggle with physical disabilities, mental illnesses or substance use disorders. Watch this video to meet some of the faces of homelessness.
